Discussion Questions (Business Research Methods)

1.      Describe a business research process. Mention some of the ethical issues that need to be considered when conducting the research.

2.      Explain the difference between exploratory, descriptive, and causal business research types,   by providing examples of business problems that could be researched using these approaches. 

3.      Describe the main elements of  a business  research proposal and a thesis 

4.      What are the challenges in defining a business problem? What important steps need to be taken in defining a business problem?

5.      Provide examples for  each of the following types of variables
·        Categorical and continuous  variables
·        Nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio variables
·        Dependent and independent  variables
·        extraneous or confounding variables
6.      Discuss methods to ensure the reliability  and validity of data collection tools

7.      Discuss the following types of errors by providing examples

8.      Explain the various types of probabilistic and non probabilistic sampling techniques used in business research

9.      Discuss the different alternatives that are used to determine an appropriate sample size in a business research

10.   Discuss the various methods that can be used to collect data in business research.

11.   Discuss  different types of quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques that can be used in business research

12.    Describe the difference between the null and alternatives hypotheses. Discuss also the Type I and Type II errors

13.   Discuss some of the statistical techniques that could be uses

·        To compare groups

14.   Discuss some of the citation and  referencing styles that are often used in business research reports
